Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant virtually laid the foundation stone of the new building of Quepem Police Station today. Dy Chief Minister Shri. Chandrakant R. Kavalekar was present on the occasion, while DGP Shri. Mukesh Kumar Meena IPS attended it virtually. Chairman of Quepem Municipality Shri. Dayesh Naik; Vice Chairperson Shri. Haldankar, Collector South Shri. Ajit Kumar Roy, IAS; SP South Shri. Pankaj Kumar Singh IPS; officials of PWD were also present on the occasion. The project costs Rs. 8 crore.

The Chief Minister in his address said that Police personnel are front line workers and our protectors. They need the best of infrastructure and other basic facilities. He appreciated the Crime Branch officials for the recent drug raid. He urged people to come together in making Goa ‘Swayampurna’. “Swayampurn mission should begin at the village level. Quepem taluka has many villages, hence let us do our best for our State,” he said. Dr. Sawant also appealed to the people to follow safety norms while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Kavalekar appreciated the Chief Minister for his support rendered in undertaking developmental works in Quepem taluka. “The Quepem Police Station is a much awaited dream of all Quepecars. I am happy that this dream will soon come true. The work of the much awaited Quepem bus stand will also commence soon,” Shri. Kavalekar informed. He also appreciated the efforts of all the Government officials for their dedication in their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.   

Earlier, in his welcome address DGP Meena, IPS said that it is a very happy day for the department as the much awaited project has finally begun. He thanked the Chief Minister as well as Shri. Kavalekar for their support. “The building should be completed soon. The Police department will strive hard to eradicate negative entities from the society,” he said.
