The Directorate of Education, State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and Goa Samagra Shiksha (GSS), in association with Adhyayan Foundation, Tata Trusts and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad Campus has successfully conducted phase one of 4 days on-line teacher training program from May 13 to May 16, 2020 on "Effective Planning for Achievement of Learning Outcomes” for all the Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary school teachers of the State.


Initially this program had been planned for face to face training during the summer vacation for capacity building of teachers but due to Covid -19 pandemic, the programme was changed to online mode.“This is the first time in the State as well as in the Country that such a massive exercise for online teacher training has been carried out to reach out to all 10,500 teachers of Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary in two phases.”


In this training program the focus was on enabling the Heads of schools and teachers to engage with learners using virtual platforms and pedagogical processes for learners to learn synchronously and asynchronously from the material available online and also to facilitate teachers to plan their academic year, taking into account the various parameters. It will also track the learning outcomes of the students.


The 1st phase of program was implemented in stages wherein the 406 Master Trainers comprising of teachers, Headmasters/ Headmistress, Principals completed 4 days of on-line training from May 5 to   May 8, 2020. After that 384 Computer teachers completed training on May 9 & May 11, 2020 to work as Technical Facilitators during phase one of the teacher training.  Thereafter, 5000 teachers in 168 groups, comprising of 30 teachers each completed successfully the online training from May 13 to May 16, 2020.


On completion of the 1st phase of training programme there was an overwhelming response by all teachers, Head of the Institutions for organizing the training which enabled them to carry out remote teaching learning in the time of this COVID-19 crisis. The remaining 5500 teachers will covered soon in the 2nd phase.
