          May 22 is celebrated worldwide as International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB). This year’s State Level IDB function is being organised by Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), Saligao with a theme : ‘Our Solutions are in Nature’ in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate and National Biodiversity Authority on May 22, 2020. This year it will be a virtual celebration due to the prevailing Covid-19 Pandemic, with an online programme at 11:30 am.

The session will begin with  pre-recorded video message by Minister for Environment, Shri. Nilesh Cabral briefing on Biodiversity of Goa.

This will be followed by an interactive session and discussion of members with Chairperson and Members of Goa State Biodiversity Board.

There will be also pre-recorded online sessions of 10 minutes each  by Vice Chancellor of University of Uttarakhand, Dr. Rakesh Shah, Associate Professor, School of Ecology and Environment Studies, Nalanda University and Local expert member of GSBB Dr. Pushpa Kumar Lakshmanan followed by the declaration of  prize winners of the various competitions held on the occasion of World Wetland Day 2020.

On this occasion, GSBB will announce Short film making and photography  competitions. The criteria and rules for the competition along with theme is available on GSBB website https://gsbb.goa.gov.in/

Also, GSBB will inaugurate a ‘Multipurpose  Processing Facility’ under the Project “Biodiversity Conservation through livelihood Intervention with‘GoVan’ brand” at the hands of Dignitary along with Chairperson of GSBB on May 22, 2020 at Pale Surla at 10:30am with limited number of participants adhering to all the social distancing norms.
