    Panaji : April 12, 2020

                                                                     Chaitra 12, 1941

The Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik has extended warm greetings to the people of Goa, on the auspicious occasion of Vishu and Baisakhi on April 13, 2020.

In his message the Governor has said that, from times immemorial, our social cultural and spiritual festivals have had a pivotal role in furthering the cause of national unity and integrity. While Vishu is an important festive occasion particularly for Keralites, Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals of North India, especially for the Sikhs, which is celebrated by them with great fervor and fanfare. The festival of Baisakhi heralds the time when the rabi and winter crop is harvested and it marks the beginning of New Year.

The Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik has further said the entire Country is under the lockdown to contain Covid-19 pandemic. I appeal everyone to celebrate the festival and offer prayer from their respective homes without disregarding the social distancing measures.

May the New year occasion of Vishu and Baisakhi this year bring greater happiness, good health and prosperity to everyone, the Governor added.
