The Meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) was held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary of Goa Shri Parimal Rai at Forest Bhavan Altinho Panaji yesterday.

The meeting was attended by the members of SEC Shri Puneet Goel, Principal Secretary, Science and Technology, Shri SK Bhandari, Secretary, Transport and   Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary Revenue, Member Secretary, SEC & SDMA

The meeting deliberated on the current situation as regard to COVID-19 in the State. It was informed that the supply of essential goods in Goa has improved. However, those distributors, wholesalers, and retailers who are yet to start functioning will be asked to open their establishments.

It was   decided that the Transport department shall take immediate measures to bring ration from other States. Similarly, in order to strengthen the supply of dry ration, all groceries shops in Panchayats and Municipal buildings will be kept open. Also the difficulties faced by the labourers  in industrial areas for ration due to inadequate number of open groceries shops will be redressed.

Secretary Panchayat and DMA will work out the modalities allowing the sale of vegetable/fruits/eggs ensuring social distancing norms it was informed.

It was further informed that 200 ventilators are require to be procured immediately at the cost of about Rs. 15 crore for the use at GMC or other health facilities. Also Goa would receive 10,000 N95 masks, and 1,000 PPE by air courier service of Gol. Fair Price Shops will be kept open by following necessary safeguard of social distancing.

State Executive Committee directed, FDA to ensure easy availability and free flow of medicines and other medical essentials.

It was decided that the banks will continue to function including Co-operative banks enforcing all the prescribed safety measures of social distancing.

It was also decided to start Groceries-on-Wheel which will roll out in the South district on April 1,2020. Further it was decided to make facility available for people on www.goaonline.gov.in to obtain limited duration Transit Passes to facilitate buying of groceries and medicines. The State Executive Committee also decided to permit Collectors to directly lift relief material from the Civil Supply godowns under the Open Market Sale scheme.
