Governor of Goa Shri Satya Pal Malik has extended his wishes to the people of Goa on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. In his message the Governor has said that, on the auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa.

“Gudi Padwa  heralds the dawn of the New Year, when the people renew their sentimental, social and spiritual  values and rededicate themselves to work for a better and more fruitful and wholesome life in the society. Gudi is believed to ward off evil, invite prosperity and good luck into  the house. Historically, the Gudi symbolizes Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana and the happiness and celebrations  that followed. Since a symbol of victory is always held high, so is  the gudi (flag). The festival commemorates the coronation of Rama post his return to Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. It is on auspicious occasions like Gudi Padwa which  is celebrated  with great fervor by all the people, that we  should renew our efforts to further strengthen our unity and solidarity,” the Governor says.

“May the celebrations  of Gudi Padwa this year bring greater happiness and prosperity to one and all,” the Governor concludes.
