GOVERNOR FELICITATES OUTSTANDING SPORTS ACHIEVERS
AT RAJ BHAVAN

The Governor, Shri. Satya Pal Malik felicitated outstanding sports achievers of 65th National school Games Championship 2019- 20 with cash incentives and certificates of appreciation at a function held at Raj Bhavan recently.
The felicitation function was hosted by the Governor at Raj Bhavan to acknowledge outstanding performance of sports achievers at 65th National school Games championship and to boost morale and their passion to strive for excellence,
The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs had deputed about 90 teams in various discipline to represent Goa at the 65th National School Games Championships held across the country during the year 2019-20, wherein the players participated in various discipline and brought laurels to the State by winning 8 Gold, 11 Silver, 31 Bronze Medals.
Praising the medal winners for their efforts in achieving the success, the Governor motivated them to work harder to achieve greater success in future.
During the interaction with them the Governor has also mentioned that during his tenure as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, he saw how children of State of J & K succeeded in sports when provided with proper facilities, training and incentives by the Government.
The Governor further said that in the earlier times, academics were of utmost importance as compared to sports, but today the trend has changed and sports is also a preferred career choice for youngsters. He also stressed that students should learn to strike a balance between academics and their passion for sports. He encouraged the budding sports players to work harder in order to achieve greater heights in their respective sports choices.
Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai, IAS, Secretary to Governor Shri Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS, Secretary Education Mrs. Nila Mohanan, IAS, Secretary Sports Shri Sanjay Kumar, IAS, and Director of Sports Shri Shashank Mani Tripathi, IAS were also present for the occasion.
