Goa College of Art, in collaboration with its MoU partner Entertainment Society of Goa conducted a workshop on Film Editing from the February 6 to 13, 2020. The workshop was conducted by film editor Shri. Niraj Voralia. Students of Film making and faculty members attended the workshop.

Shri. Voralia took the students through the journey of films, its birth and evolution. Showing them a few of the classic films of the black and white era he elaborated on some of the well-known exponents of the medium like Sergei Eisenstein and Vsevolod Pudovkin. Apart from his engaging lectures on film treatments, styles and genres; he discussed about the different processes in film making like structuring a story, film narratives as well as the technicalities of editing. He also guided the students of audio visuals and gave them some important tips of effective editing in their course work.

Students asked questions pertaining to film and allied profession which Shri. Voralia answered with proficient details.

While speaking on the valedictory function, Shri Subhash Faldesai, Vice Chairman of ESG appreciated the efforts put in by the Principal and faculty to conduct such a workshop, enriching the participants with the finer nuances of film making. He also urged the students to put their knowledge to practical use and help in Nation building.

Principal of Goa College of Arts Shri Mahesh Vengurlekar stressed upon the benefits of the MoU, and said that this is the second major activity with ESG under the MoU after the successful participation of students of Goa College of Art at the 50th IFFI this year.  

The MoU between the Goa College of Art and other institutions in the country has enabled the institution to open new doors for the students to get exposed to professionals from the fine art, design and film industry.
