BAN ON IMPORT AND RETAIL SALE OF OXYTOCIN

          Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has informed that Central Government has banned the import of oxytocin and its formulation in any name or manner. It is directed that the oxytocin formulations manufactured by the Public Sector companies, should supply the formulations meant for human and veterinary use only to registered hospitals and clinics in public and private sectors directly or to Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) and Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment ( AMRIT) outlets or any other Government entity which may be specified by Central Government for this purpose in the country,   which shall further supply the drug to the registered hospitals and clinics in Publics and Private sector. The oxytocin in any form or name should not be sold through retail chemist. The  notification will be effective from July 1, 2018.
